How Our Guests Make Every Day at Hyde Special

By Rachel Bartley, Level 4 Stylist at Hyde Salon
You know what I love most about working at Hyde? It's not just the amazing color formulas or the latest cutting techniques (though those are pretty great too). It's the people. Every single day, I get to meet someone new or catch up with a longtime client, and honestly, they're the ones who make this job so rewarding.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately because we've gotten some really sweet reviews, and I wanted to share what they mean to us, and why the relationships we build here are everything.
When someone takes a leap of faith
Moving to a new town is stressful enough without having to find a new stylist, right? Ashley Hetherington just moved to Chapin and was pretty nervous about booking with someone she'd never met before. I totally get that, your hair is personal! She ended up with Barb, and here's what she told us:
"Barb immediately put me at ease – she is warm and personable and guided me with questions about my current routine and preferences. She gave me a wonderful cut and made me feel so comfortable."
That's exactly what we're going for. We want you to feel heard from the moment you sit down. Barb is amazing at asking the right questions and really listening to what you want (and what you definitely don't want!). It's not just about the cut, it's about making sure you feel comfortable enough to speak up if something doesn't feel right.
The pixie cut challenge
Can we talk about pixie cuts for a second? They're one of my favorite styles to work on, but I know they can be tricky to find someone who really understands them. Glenda came in wanting to refresh her pixie into something with a bit more edge, and I was so excited to work with her. She said something that really stuck with me:
"Rachel was amazing. She listened to what I was saying but also offered opinions and suggestions. She was super nice and made me comfortable immediately. Hard to find a stylist who not only appreciates a pixie cut but does a good job of cutting and styling it."
This is what I mean about listening! Glenda knew she wanted something different, but she wasn't exactly sure what. We talked through some options, I showed her a few techniques, and we figured it out together. That's the fun part of my job, collaborating with clients to create something they'll love.
It's the little things
Donna B. left us a review that honestly made my whole week. She mentioned something that we don't always think about but that means so much:
"Hyde Salon is really beautiful and the staff takes good care of you. Alyssa is a wonderful stylist and I know I'm always in good hands with her. They have nice touches like offering you a drink when you walk in, having a very comfortable shampoo room, and little things that make you feel welcome."
Those "little things" she's talking about? They're actually huge to us. Savannah at the front desk always has that bright smile and remembers your usual drink. Our shampoo room is designed to be this peaceful escape where you can actually relax. We spend time on these details because your whole experience matters, not just the final result.
Three years and counting
Some of my favorite relationships here are the ones that have grown over years. Kayla Robinson has been coming to me for almost three years now, and she said:
"Rachel is literally my fave! She's been doing my hair for almost 3 years and I wouldn't have it any other way! I feel and look amazing every time she gets done with my hair!"
When someone trusts you with their hair for that long, it becomes more than just appointments. I know Kayla's hair, her lifestyle, what works for her and what doesn't. We can try new things because we have that foundation of trust. Plus, she always brings the best stories from her kids!
Why this all matters
Reading reviews like these reminds me why I love what I do. It's not just about technique (though that matters a lot). It's about creating a space where people feel comfortable, heard, and cared for. Every person who sits in my chair brings something different, a new challenge, a fun conversation, or sometimes just the need for an hour to themselves.
We're always learning from our guests too. They inspire us to try new techniques, think differently about color, or simply remember that sometimes the best part of someone's day is feeling pampered for a little while.
If you're thinking about trying us out, I promise we'll take good care of you. Whether you're new to the area like Ashley, looking for someone who gets your style like Glenda, or ready to build a long-term relationship like Kayla, we're here for it.
Want to find your perfect match? We have a stylist survey that helps pair you with someone who fits your style and personality. Or just give us a call, we're always happy to chat about what you're looking for.
Come see what all the fuss is about. We'd love to meet you.
